Worthington Library hosts Martha Ackmann on the Mercury 13 Astronauts

July 21 at 7 pm, the Worthington Library is honored to present award-winning author, Martha Ackmann, who will speak about her book, The Mercury 13: The True Story of Thirteen Women and the Dream of Space Flight. Dr Ackmann is a member of the Gender Studies Department at Mount Holyoke College who writes about women who have changed America. She is a frequent contributor to many of the nation's newspapers and is a commentator for National Public Radio. A much sought-after speaker, she uses the story of the Mercury 13 as an inspiring study of women's determination and hope. This program is free to the public and is a part of this summer's reading program, Starship Adventure at Your Library.
