HOLIDAY SCHEDULE

This year's holidays fall on days the Worthington Library is usually open. We will be closed on Thursday, December 25, Christmas Day and on Thursday, January 1, New Year's Day. There will be no Interlibrary Loan delivery on December 24.
Genealogy Club will be held on January 8 at 7 pm. There will be no Book Club in December. Join us on January 15 at 7 pm for the next discussion. Be sure to stop in to get the next selection before that!

The next Friends of the Library meeting is Tuesday, December 16 at 6:30 followed at 7:00 by the monthly Board Meeting. All are welcome to come and get involved with your library.

1st Annunal National Gaming Day

Saturday November 15 is the 1st National Gaming Day at the Worthington Library! Games for all ages will be available for you to enjoy. Besides playing cards, we have checkers, chess, go, backgammon, snakes and ladders, and a new game: Pictureka! Bring your own games if you like and join the fun with your friends. 10:00 to 4:00 - Come play at your library!

These are the people who help keep the library running smoothly. Celebrate with us and enjoy our speaker, Grant Bowman, who will talk about his years as town moderator.

New books for all ages

Have you read the latest Magic Tree House books? Worthington Library has four new ones and a new Nancy Drew mystery. How about comics? Junior readers have a treat with the first three books in the BabyMouse series. For those just beginning to read, we have Power Rangers early reader books.
Hot off the press for Young Adult readers is Christopher Paolini's Brisinger. You won't want to miss it! On the new book shelf for adult readers is Dennis LeHane's newest offering, The Given Day; Jose Saramago's Death With Interruptions and Vicky Myron's true story, Dewey: a small-town library cat who touched the world.

KURDISH TALES AT THE LIBRARY

On Wednesday, September 24 at 7:00 pm., the Worthington Library will be presenting award-winning storyteller Diane Edgecomb. A Fire in My Heart; A Storyteller's Journey Among the Kurds is an entertaining and insightful performance which charts Diane's years collecting the vanishing folkloric tales of the Kurdish people. Her seven-year quest brought her to remote mountain villages in Turkey which are usually forbidden to outsiders. A master teller, Edgecomb will share legends from her new book, A Fire in My Heart: Kurdish Tales, never before published stories that reveal the folkloric riches of this ancient Middle Eastern culture along with anecdotes of her travels up sheer mountain roads to record the last Kurdish storytellers. The performance resonates with the humor and pathos of Kurdish village life and the colorful people that shared their lives with her. Join us for this memorable event.

Summer Reading's Wild Reads Party

Get wild at the Wild Reads Party on Thursday August 21. Once again, our favorite clown will entertain the summer readers with music and balloons. Certificates will be handed out for all those signed up for Wild Reads and a lucky winner will be drawn for Big E tickets! 25 for 5 coupons will be good until August 31 for all those who have read five age appropriate books. Bring in your reading logs to get your coupons. Rain or shine - don't miss this event at 10:30 on Thursday!
